Every figure is a lifetime total from an iTunes library export taken September 4, 2026. The export records cumulative play counts and one last-played date per track, never individual plays, so nothing here says when a play happened. The exception is section 07: a track added in the last three years cannot have plays older than itself.
A track is one library item; a song is one distinct recording. 25,087 tracks collapse to 24,962 songs, because a recording that appears on both an album and a compilation counts once. A live performance is its own recording, so twenty-one nights of "Rain King" are twenty-one songs. Artist names that differ only by capitalization are merged.
Listening time is play count × track length. Album rankings exclude compilations and soundtracks; the decade chart covers the 99% of plays with a release year; the original import is held out of the growth chart. Genre is a hand-built taxonomy of 16 categories — 96.5% of plays come from 387 curated artists, the rest from iTunes' own tag. Music videos, unchecked tracks, and 667 plays of standup and spoken word are excluded. The playlist count is the hand-made ones; smart playlists, folders and the lists iTunes keeps for itself bring the raw total to 73.
